Potentially trouble: The two drugs interact in a way that can sometimes cause serious effects. The combination is best avoided if possible. f you need to take both, then it must be done in conjunction with your family doctor who can monitor for drug interaction effects closely.

Serotonin syndrome: With agitation/sweats/nausea etc is a rare side effect that can occur when these medicines interact. Most experts in NZ would still use the 2 in low dose with precaution but worth discussion with your GP re the pros and cons. May not be a trivial decision to stop the amitriptyline but I dont know the reason you're on it
