GBS+ treatments: In the US, it is routine to start IV antibiotics as soon as you present in labor. Oral meds don't help. Regular doses are given every few hours until delivery. This protocol has reduced the frequency of GBS problems. There is always a risk with prolonged rupture of membranes (other germs), increasing risk after 18 hrs often pushes increased surveillance of labor & can lead some to elect c section.
