Not plasma or serum: The hepatitis B vaccine that came out around 1981 was made using human plasma, and was very safe. In 1986, a new vaccine was approved that was made with DNA technology. We currently have 2 brands of hepatitis B vaccine in the US, and both are made with DNA technology, not from human serum.
