A member asked:

Feel like theres mucus stuck in my throat. very painful in my throat and ear when i swallow. anything i can do at home?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: Throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go quickly (mainly to check for strep throat). Throat lozenges, Tylenol (acetaminophen), or Motrin (ibuprofen) can lessen pain.
