If you: are not at increased risk, and the nodule has benign CT features, then the chance of malignancy is less than 1-2%. This is from the ACR's Lung-RADS classification system. 40% is simply not correct.

Unlikely: But it may need to be followed up to insure that it is not enlarging. Someone who has never smoked regularly, or had exposure to certain carcinogens (radon, asbestos) is very unlikely to develop a cancer at 43. A 6 mm nodule is so small that it is considered "indeterminate" but in some people should have a repeat CT scan done to rule out growth. Get consultation from MD experienced with nodules.
