20 week: The twenty week scan is important to show the health of internal structures of the baby (heart, brain, etc.) if there is a problem, it could change how the pregnancy is managed. The 14 week scan is probably not necessary unless your doctor has a specific question about something.

Maybe: Four previous normal vaginal births do not obviate something going amiss with your current pregnancy in the form of congenital or other abnormalities. At age 35 these would be at a slightly higher risk and the ultrasound is your first and best detector. Trust your OB MD to have you and your pregnancy's best interest at heart and follow his/her advice.
