A member asked:

Suspicious mole pathology after shave biopsy unclear. after fish test (negative)pathology is moderate to severe atypia. is it necessary to remove?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Shave biopsy is not a good procedure for mole. Pathologist can only tell you what is in the tissue that was submitted, not what is in the tissue that is still part of your body. Biopsy of a mole needs to be an excisional biopsy.
