I am suffering from head aches for a few years now and tried many doctors and pills but don't seem to find the problem. would a mri scan be useful? i know by now that the head aches can be many things, but have to try find out what the problem is.

Headaches: When you have a complaint of headache you must be fully evaluated there are many kinds of headaches. You should be fully worked up and yes this could include a mri of the brain

Neurologist: Chronic headaches are tough to diagnose and treat. You may need to see a specialist and if your symptoms are of long duration I would suggest a CT scan and possibly an MRI.More importantly is the degree of pain ( 1-10), frequency of attacks, duration of attacks and symptoms of double/blurred vision, neck pain/stiffness, nausea/vomiting/fainting. Medication is available for most chronic headaches.

Can't be exact about: The cause of headaches because there are several major types, e.g., vascular, sinus, muscular, tension, etc. Please go to a headache clinic or neurologist so he/she can examine you and give you the proper treatment for the type of headache you have.
