No quick answer: Blood Pressure reflects the combination of heart rate and stroke volume (amount of blood pushed out each contraction) and resistance of the arteries (and to lesser degree veins). A drop in blood pressure when you go from lying to standing is normal; a drop of more than 15 mm Hg often reflects dehydration. You might be hypertensive AND dehydrated, or might have an autonomic problem.
