I am on nesopram 20mg twice a day for hiatus hernia and it is costly. if it is a medical condition that requires ongoing medication can it be considered/paid for by chronic? is there another cheaper generic?

Yes: Their are cheaper brands like Omeprazole. Moreover it will not affect the hiatal hernia but may reduce symptoms of GERD. Follow GERD precautions and could use cheaper H2 blockers like Ranitidine, avoid smoking and do not lay than at least one after eating
