Post-tussive cough.: When we're sick with an upper or lower respiratory infection, the cough tends to be the last symptom to clear. This is called a post-tussive cough which, as you can surmise, means "post-cough cough". The coughing itself makes the cough linger. The solution? Cough suppressant. Bronchitis: can be very "Stubborn" and a lingering cough is common. If you are not feverish and are not producing (yellow) sputum a second course of antibiotics is probably not useful! Hope this helps Dr Z BTW Drink LOTS of fluids and consider using a VAPORIZER in your bedroom at night!

May: be. Cough may persist after treatment for a week or two. If you smoke that may even prolong the cough. You did not state your treatment. if bronchospasm was part of your presentation an brochodilator inhaler may be helpful.
