Is treating a paper cut with merthiolate tinture okay? how long for it to heal?

Merthiolate tinture: I didn't know that any one used merthiolate tinture as a first aid antiseptic anymore. It is about 50% alcohol -so it is likely to burn. Although it could be used - I think that plain soap with warm water would be fine.
