A member asked:

3 early mcs, 2 showed trisomy 14 & turner's. 34 yrs old now 8 months pregnant through ivf pgs. didn't do amnio. any genetic test recommended at birth?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normally not: Nature aborts fetuses (babies) with major genetic mutations, to maintain our human species. The reason for prenatal genetic testing is to help nature, by aborting fetuses that nature failed to catch. For example, the large majority of trisomy 18 fetuses die before birth, but some are not caught by nature (but we can help through prenatal testing). Normal-looking babies at birth don't need testing.
