Concerned with the radiation from mammograms.could i request an mri instead?

You may: MRI is more expensive and you should check with your insurance provider to see MRI is covered. You should also discuss it with your doctor and ascertain if an ultrasound may be an alternative. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

No: Please forgive my frankness. MRI scans are very expensive (money, time) for the hospital, and using them for screening isn't practical. If you make such a request because you read scare stuff online, things will get unpleasant for everyone. I think the imaging a mammogram gives is better anyway. Most of us think the recommended screenings are worth the risk.
