Normal appearing Eye: Your 10 year old is specifying a very pinpoint location for "soreness". With your close look, nothing is visible to the eye in that location. If he is otherwise well, no fever, no visual problems, I'd watch it a day. It is not unusual for the pain of a stye to develop before much is visible to the naked eye.
