A member asked:

Should i worry about transmitting high risk hpv in bathtubs , swimming pools or accidently touching my legs with my underwear as i'm pulling them up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No worries: High-risk cancer-causing human papilloma viruses are transmitted as an STD. If no S (sexual) activities, then there will be no T (transmission) of the D (disease). So, no worries about non-sexual activities. All boys, girls, and young adults in the US need to be vaccinated with Gardasil-9, to help prevent catching 7 cancer-causing HPV strains. The vaccine does not remove a pre-existing infection.
