A member asked:

Dating my half second cousin once removed. will there be any health problems with having kids one day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe/not: We are each thought to carry recessive genetic material for a few diseases that could emerge in offspring if we marry someone with similar genes. The highest risk would be brother/sister with lesser risk with each step away from that pairing. Random pairings with the general population have the least, but not zero risk. In short, anytime you marry a relative, you must accept that risk.
