Lactose intolerance: Lactose intolerance is hereditary but can occur if the small intestine becomes diseased or injured. I don't believe that your procedure, which improves the esophageal sphincter, fits in this category. To check for lactose intolerance you could try an elimination diet or undergo the actual testing procedure. A gastroenterologist can advise you further.
