A member asked:

I have a shooting pain in my ear every 30- 40 seconds. i have no ear infection but think it might be a trapped nerve in my neck/shoulder .

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pinched nerves: Pinching of nerves or nerve roots in the neck area cause pain below the level of the ear. Jabbing pains in the ear may be related to pressure changes in the eustachian tube which runs between the back of the nose and ear drum. A mild inflammation of the ear drum is also a possibility.Have your physician examine your ear and neck if symptoms persist.
