Early morning chest: pain is worrisome. Oddly, the first hour after awakening is the most likely time to have a heart attack. The pain you're experiencing at age 63 could indeed be from your heart struggling to get blood and oxygen. There are many other causes possible, but I would urge an urgent visit with your physician, or a trip to the emergency department or even call 911 if the chest pain returns.
