Nope, no effect: D-Lysine has absolutely no benefit in people with either oral or genital herpes. Do not believe the many misleading claims you can find online and don't waste your money. Acyclovir and related drugs effectively treat outbreaks (it only takes a single dose); if frequent, daily drug can prevent them. Use a strong sunblock if you find sun exposure triggers outbreaks.

Absolutely NOT!!!: This silly idea was laughed out of use 40 years ago. It never made any sense. In herpes cultures they could inhibit growth by increasing lysine if they also reduced arginine. Viruses are in the nucleus of the cell where it is not possible to vary the proportions of any amino acids. l-Lysine is a waste of money. Acyclovir, valacyclovir, famcyclivir are very effective, safe, easy to use. Oral best.
