I had several sips of kombucha, which has a little alcohol, but i'm supposed to take metronidazole 500mg tonight. will this give me bad side effects?

How long between: when you took sips of alcohol and when you are scheduled to take Metronidazole? Given the fact that there is only a small percentage of alcohol in kombucha, and that alcohol is metabolized relatively quickly, there should not be a problem, especially if you are taking them several hours apart.
