A member asked:

How does making yourself throw up effect your body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Please get help!: Making oneself throw up on a regular basis can damage the enamel of one's teeth, cause gastrointestinal bleeding when a part of the esophagus (the food tube) is torn, make one lose electrolytes so that one may experience muscle cramps. One may feel fatigued, irritable, guilty about one's action. This is called bulimia, for which there is treatment. Please see your doc or a psychiatrist.
