Laying on stomach: This pushes venous blood back to the heart which increases volume in the left ventricle causing stretch which increases force of contraction. This results in increased blood flow in arteries and turbulence in the vessels that run by the ear. The sound is transmitted into the bones of the ear and you "hear" it. Takes time to equalize. Sound analogy - Slow moving river versus rapids.
