A member asked:

My dad's taking amoxicillin 500 mg 3 times a day for ten days. is this the right antibiotic and is it effective to treat bacterial lymphadenitis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably: It's a good, overall antibiotic, but does not cover some bacteria. Swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenitis) can also come from causes other than bacteria, so you need to make sure to try to find the cause. ASk the treating doctor. Maybe you could go to the next appointment with him. Hope this helps!
