Not necessarily : Paracetamol can be given for pain and discomfort but routine use is discouraged as some theoretical concerns it may blunt the response to the vaccine. So isn't necessary but isn't the end of the world if a dose or 2 is given if uncomfortable/in pain.

Vaccination: If your child is unsettled, miserable because of the fever, or seems to be in pain, you might consider giving them paracetamol or ibuprofen to make them feel more comfortable.Routinely giving babies and children paracetamol before and repeatedly after immunisation just in case they feel unwell is not recommended. There is some evidence that paracetamol may reduce the effectiveness of vaccination
