Virus? Strep?: You probably have a viral infection, or maybe strep throat. Or maybe mononucleosis -- mayge untlelated to your smoking and cough. Contact your doctor. But do try to get off cigarettes: even if this problem isn't due to your obvious chronic bronchitis, you're on a path toward serious lung disease from smoking.
