Bacterial infection: Cough suggests maybe pneumonia, but otherwise you provide no information to guess the cause, except those antibiotics suggest his doctor suspects a serious bacterial infection. You'll need to ask the doctor. Good luck to you and your dad.

Mgt: I would suggest seeing your PCP if the fever does not respond to current treatment within two days. Keep him well hydrated, rested and monitor closely for respiratory distress. Treat fever with tylenol or motrin. Did he have a chest radiograph as yet? If there is fluid around the lungs, it may need to be removed/sent for analysis.
