Usually rheumatic: heart disease manifests itself as valvular disease and this can lead to heart failure. Treatment of the valvular disease would improve this. Rarely there can be direct damage to the myocardium resulting in heart failure as well. This would be treated in standard fashion as for any patient with any form of heart failure.
