It depends.: Sore throat can be viral or bacterial. To prevent being contagious, specially if you are coughing, wear a mask and always wash your hands, most of the time common colds can cause sore throat, and are self limited, with rest , plenty of fluids it will improve. If you have a productive cough and congestion, yellow -green mucous, you may need antibiotics, and decongestants, see a doctor if not better

Contagious throat?: Sore throat per we is not contagious, can be from dehydration, allergies or congestion. Avoid sharing drinks, utensils, and kissing to avoid transferring infections.
