Get checked: Variety of possibilities Need to determine whether there is a more serious circulation problem in the neck or the chest that is causing the blood vessels to be congested or whether this is simply muscular pain/spasm that's causing extra pressure on the veins in the area. A doctor examination from one licensed in your area is therefore required and they can arrange tests if not clear. Good luck.

Be seen: Multiple potential causes, I would not hesitate to be seen. More common causes of pain in the neck can include problems within the spine, such as cervical Spondylosis; causes in the muscle such as a strain or myocardial pain syndrome; even stress can contribute. A good medical exam would probably be a good place to start.
