Yes HPV; not serious: Pap smear with low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL) means HPV. LSIL rarely progresses to more serious problems, almost never to cancer. Your doctor is correct: the LSIL will clear up, usually in a few months to a couple of years. Most HPV infections are cleared by the immune system, even though HPV DNA often persists. All in all, this is a minor problem. Follow the doc's advice.
