Probably: Guys do stuff. Chances are he stretched his urethra or bladder and tore the mucosa. Usually this heals quickly. If he's still peeing blood in a few days or has a lot of pain, get him seen. A stricture is unlikely. He already knows it was dumb and he probably won't try it again -- it this is the most foolish thing he ever does, he's very lucky. Best wishes.
