A member asked:

Can glucagon injection help everyone with severe hypoglycemia when they are unconscious? are there restrictions or instances where it wouldn't help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Glucagon: Glucagon causes the liver to release substances which increase the blood sugar in anyone, but for all practical purposes is used in brittle, insulin dependent diabetics in emergency situations. Most nondiabetic patients with hypoglycemia don't lose consciousness and can respond to sugars taken by mouth and glucagon in these type patients is usually not available.
