Wouldnt ant acids like tums be more helpful for achalacia patients as opposed to ppis. as acid in this case is due to food stuck in esophogus?

Acid: All acid is produced in the stomach. Achalasia in general makes acid reflux less likely, because the sphincter between the stomach and the esophagus gets tighter. If you are truly having acid reflux issues, you could try either type, antacids or PPIs as a trial, but the entire scenario still doesn't make perfect sense.
