This question is asked so as to provide me with some guidelines in caring for an elderly person. (1) generally speaking, what differences in symptoms are there between dementia and delirium? (2) is it easy to confuse one with the other? advice please

Similar: Both can appear confused. Dementia is constant and the may have some aspect of awareness it is more constant and persists. Delirium is in general an acute thing and can wax and wane with decreased level of consciousness. In general there is a potentially fixable cause of delirium but not dementia.
