Fluoroscopy (Answ#7): Chest x-ray (PA and lateral) are two static images whereas a barium swallow involves dynamic flouroscopy. Short answer is likely "yes."

Do you: really mean radiation intensity, or radiation dose? Total average does for the barium swallow is probably about 15x the dose for a chest xray. Intensity, or strength of the xray beam, is probably about the same.
