Sprain Rx R.I.C.E.: This is most likely strain due to excessive or repetitive use.Treat with rice therapy (rest, ice, compression, elevation) and nsaids (like motrin) if it gets worse or progresses, seek medical attention.

Need an Exam: The range of possibilities is really still too large with the given information. A nerve conduction study may help determine if it is from a nerve compression issue like carpal tunnel syndrome, along with electromyogram it may help determine if there is a nerve compression near the neck. You will need to see a neurologist or physiatrist for these types of test.
