Calcium supplements: Any time you don't get enough with usual diet. Understand that a woman's bone mass reaches it's peak in their thirties, then declines. So it is very important to maximize your calcium stores by supplying adequate calcium. Your needs increase dramatically if you breastfeed. Recent studies suggest 1000 mg/day maximum supplement.
