Urethral stricture: There are 3 ways to treat urethral strictures: urethral dilation; visual internal urethrotomy; and open surgical repair. The first two are minor procedures and are usually temporary requiring repeated treatments specially urethral dilations. The open repair is major surgery but has a better prognosis and results. How severe is the stricture determines sometimes what needs to be done.
