My father was diagnosed w/ pneumonia today & sent home w/ antibiotics. also being treated for malignant lymphoma. i'm worried about him being sent home & not being hospitalized b/c pneumonia seems serious. are antibiotics enough w/o hospitalization?

Usually the doctor: will take into account things like his base-line health & the severity of his pneumonia when deciding whether or not to treat as an inpatient or an outpatient. Take care.

Appropriate concern: ...particularly since your dad is probably at increased risk. Take no changes if he shows any signs of clinical worsening and bring him back to the ER.
