Dental Phobia and...: It sounds like there are two issues here. First, you need to find another dentist who is compassionate, can allay your fears and treat you without pain both during and after treatment. Secondly, even though your anxiety and phobia might not be all your own doing, you should speak to both the dentist and perhaps a therapist about it. Dentistry does not have to be a bad experience. Good Luck.

Interview...: Dental-anxiety is more common than no-dental-anxiety. Interview providers and find one who will help you work through this. We treat LOTS of very fearful patients, and almost everyone improves. It probably won't become your favorite sport, but things will get better IF you address the anxiety directly.

Anxiety: Dentist's are really very kind people who only want to help you. 2 suggestions: Ask friends/relatives for name of their Dentist and interview Dentists until you find one who's personality melds with yours. May need to schedule a little extra time to help put you at ease. Also seek support from a mental health practitioner to help you take the edge off. Ask your GP for a referral.
