To ER now!: Severe pain or new shortness of breath can be serious. Both together is even more alarming. The problem could be due to heart or lung disease. Please call 911 since you are short of breath and that combined with pain makes driving yourself dangerous and will alarm anyone else driving you. Also, EMT's can begin treatment right away, saving time if this is a heart attack or you need oxygen.
