Rib cage: If the discomfort is sharp, fleeting and brought on by a deep breath, cough or other chest cage movements it often is a pinched intercostal nerve or muscle that runs between 2 ribs. This has nothing to do with the heart, lungs or a tumor and usually resolves on its own. Avoid straining of the rib cage for a while. If symptoms persist, see a physician for evaluation.
