A member asked:

Can dried bodily fluid actually spread a "blood-borne pathogen" disease? are there any documented cases?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tough viruses: Well it's always good to know exactly what the circumstances are in order to give the best risk assessment. Unfortunately there are a few 'tough' viruses that can survive outside of the body for a short while - say in dried blood- that can later infect a person exposed to them. I think of hepatitis B as a prime example. Tough little virus there. Best to talk to an ID doc if you are concerned.
