A member asked:

Will drinking a half a teaspoon of baking soda with water help with kidney infection, uti or other health problems?

Not recommended: Please note that baking soda can hurt you when taken over a prolonged period/indefinitely. Specifically, treatment of your kidney infection warrants antimicrobial therapy please, not home remedies of uncertain value.

There: is no general use for SODIUM bicarbonate on a regular basis...The "salt" intake is too much for many people and probably not a good idea for folks in general! There are more "specific" medications for kidney infection when a "alkaline" urine is desired! Hope this helps Dr Z
