Enlarged node: It is accepted practice to biopsy an enlarged lymph node that was recently noted and hasn't receded after an observation period of a couple of weeks or more. Mild elevation of the tsh would raise the suspicion of hypothyroidism but I doubt any relationship to an enlarged lymph node behind the ear. Other thyroid parameters can be done to look for an underactive thyroid gland.
