Wrong antibiotic?: Amoxicillin often is a poor drug against UTI, especially for a recurrent problem. It is possible the bacteria causing the infection is resistant to it; if so and if 500 mg isn't working, doubling the dose won't help. You may need a different antibiotic entirely. Check with the doctor treating you.
