Difficult: Persistent cough has a very long list of potential causes. These involve problems with the GI system such as heartburn with acid reflux, vocal cords, nose and sinuses where post-nasal drip is exacerbating, trachea/lungs including cough-variant asthma, chronic bronchitis or eosinophilic bronchitis. The mucus suggests nose/sinus or respiratory involvement.
