8 weeks post partum: It takes a woman's body about 8 weeks after a c/section to recover from the strain of pregnancy and operative delivery on her body. Depending on how bad the blood loss was during the c/section, she may need additional recovery time. Moreover, breast feeding demands a lot of energy, as does producing red blood cells. Only under grave circumstances should women with small children donate blood.
